75 People Received KPC Scholarship in 2017

After going through the selection process of 365 applications, PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) finally selected 75 people as the recipients of the scholarship in 2017. A total of 50 scholarships for diploma and bachelor’s degree, 20 master’s degree scholarships, and five 5 doctorate degree (S3) scholarships.

The handover ceremony took place at the hall of SMAN 2 Sangatta Utara, Thursday (7/12). GM ESD Wawan Setiawan in his speech said that the scholarship program is one of seven programs of KPC Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The goal is to improve the quality of human resources and later could create self-sustained community of East Kutai in post mining.

Wawan added that KPC has so far awarded 2,863 scholarships to the East Kutai community from junior high school level up to doctorate degree. However, in the last four years, scholarship assistance has been focused on the students of Diploma degree, bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and doctorate degree.

First Assistant of the Secretariat of East Kutai Regency H. Mugeni said, KPC scholarship program is very good to help the government and society. Mugeni who claimed to be the alumni of KPC scholarship recipient in 2005 said the scholarship program is very helpful for himself when completing the master’s degree program at Mulawarman University. "The scholarship from KPC is very helpful to the community. I had already got the benefits of KPC scholarship in 2005, "said Mugeni.

Siti Rochani SE MM, a scholarship recipient of the doctorate degree at Mulawarman University, admitted that KPC scholarship program has helped her. "The scholarships we received are very helpful to us. We know that the needs of the lectures are numerous and costly as well. We thank KPC for its concern, "said Siti.

The same thing was delivered by Agus Sultonik, teacher of Muhammadiyah 2 Primary School Sangatta. Agus, who is a grantee of master’s degree scholarship at Mulawarman University, said that the scholarship from KPC has helped him very much. Scholarship program itself according to Agus, is very useful for self-development as a teacher, which ultimately beneficial to learners in Muhammadiyah elementary school.(*)
